2009 NFL Mock Draft Updated March 7th 2009
[Read More]
Round 1
1. Lions Jason Smith ot Baylor
-Smith was awesome at the combine. Big decision for
the lions but they will stick with Culpepper and go
to the draft next year for a QB.
2. Rams Eugene Monroe OT Virginia
-Safe pick to replace the often injured Orlando Pace.
3. Chiefs Aaron Curry LB Wake Forest
-Chiefs have their QB in Cassel so now they bolster
their defense with Curry. Was an animal at the combine.
4. Seahawks Matt Stafford QB Georgia
- They signed TJ to a long term deal and can get a good
wr in later rounds of this years draft. Stafford will be
groomed by Hasselbeck for a few years.
5.Browns- Brian Orakpo DE/LB Texas
- Browns will use him as a pass rushing OLB. He is a day
1 starter for the browns.
6. Bengals Michael Crabtree WR Texas Tech
-They lost TJ to the hawks so the bengals find his
replacement in Crabtree. As long as he doesnt take
after ocho cinco expext him to do great in cinci.
7. Raiders Jeremy Maclin WR Missouri
-They desperately need a big play wideout. This guy is
super fast and is just what Al Davis ordered.
8. Jaguars Mark Sanchez QB USC
- David Garrard's time in Jacksonville is nearing an end.
Sanchez will challenge for the starting spot. If he fails
he will be groomed for a year or two.
9. GB- Malcolm Jenkins CB OSU
- Jenkins is too good to pass up on here especially
when both of their starting CB's are nearing the
end.
10. 49ers Andre Smith OT Alabama
- Smith didnt help himself at the combine possibly losing
millions and millions of dollars. He will help Frank Gore
finely get the credit, recognition and possibly a rushing
title he deserves.
11. BUF- Everette Brown DE Florida St.
-Brown just might be the best DE in the Draft.
will be an improvement over Chris Kelsay.
12. DEN- B.J. Raji DT Boston College
- Raji will fill a big hole in the Broncos D. He is a big
Massive DT that has suprising quickness.
13. Redskins- Brian Cushing LB USC
-Mister do it all Cushing should help the redskins get
even younger on D.They signed big name guys and let go
off almost all of their aging players.
14. NO- Vontae Davis CB Illinois
-The saints need a starting CB. Davis is a ball hawk
who will start from day 1. Perfect fit for the saints.
15. Texans Peria Jerry DT Mississipi
-Texans answered their questions at DE by signing Antonio
Smith. He will compete with Travis Jackson for the job.
16. SD- Rey Maualuga ILB USC
- They eventually need to find LT's Replacement but not
with this pick. Rey will patch up a mediocre inside
Linebacker crew. Will be a terror next to Merriman.
17. Jets Hakeem Nicks WR North Carolina
- Jets could take a QB here but they seem content on what
they have. Coles is gone and now they are hurtin for a WR.
Nicks has arguably the best hands out of all the WR's this
draft.
18. Bears Michael Oher OT Mississipi
- Bears needed an Ot and finds one that should have been
in the top ten.
19. Buccaneers Aaron Maybin De/Lb
-Cutting Cato June probably wasnt smart because now they
need a LB. Maybin should be able to fill his shoes though.
20. Lions James Laurinaitis LB Ohio State
- Face it the Lions LB's are undersized and unathletic.
James should change all of this.
21.Eagles Eben Britton OT Arizona
- Eagles need a TE but they need an OT worse. with possibly
two of their starting Ot's leaving they need to draft Britton
here.
22.Vikings Percy Harvin WR Florida
- the Vikings are not going to sign Terrell Owens. What a
mistake that would be. Percy should be used in many wild cat
formations with AP.
23. Patriots Alphonso Smith CB Wake Forest
- One of the Pats weakness's is at CB. Smith will compete for
the starting job.
24. Falcons Larry English DE/LB Northern Illinois
- Falcons desperately need a LB. English should be able to
step up and be a starter by day 1.
25. Dolphins Tyson Jackson DE LSU
- Dolphins cut Vonnie Holiday and left a hole at DE. Jackson
will be an excelent pick here.
26. BAL- Darrius Heyward-Bey, WR Maryland
-I get crap for this pick all the time but I dont see
why not.He is a local kid with tons of talent. Maybe
they trade down here and hope to get him in the second
round. The Ravens need someone to throw the ball to.
This guy has the ability to run under any of
Flacco's throws.
27. Colts Evander Hood DT Missouri
- Colts instantly get bigger up front with this guy.
He is a Gap Plugger that just fits in with the colts style of D.
28. PHI- Knowshon Moreno RB Georgia
- Westbrook has been getting banged up a lot recently.
Knowshon should be expected to take some snaps away
from Westbrook just to keep him healthy next year.
*could also take a Safety Here*
29. Giants Kenny Britt WR Rutgers
- Face it Burress is not going to come back to the NFL a Giant.
He will not be able to get his life on straight. Britt is a
local talent with size.
30.Titans Robert Ayers DE Tennessee
- Ayers will be part of a rotation d end. Very Talented as he
can drop into coverage as well as pass rush.
31. ARZ- LeSean McCoy RB Pittsburgh
-Yes James looked good for the Cards this last year but
he is still old. McCoy reminds me of a healthy Brian
Westbrook and should pair up with Tim Hightower well.
32. PIT- Duke Robinson OG
- Its either a Center or an OG. Robinson is the best OG
on the board and fits right in with the Steelers.
*could pick Max Unger here*
PARIS HILTON'S DUMB MOCK DRAFT

45 comments:
I think Sam can help out the Lions! Maybe a turnaround like the Dolphins this year!
Detroit has to many defensive needs to go offense with both 1st rounds picks OT with 1st then LB or DT
Pats wouldn't take a DT... they need LB, DB, OL waaayy more!!
I just think that he is too good of a player for the pats to pass up on!
JAX would not draft DE Brian Orakpo. Granted he very well may be the most talented defensive player in the draft, but in 2008 the Jaguars drafted DE Derrick Harvey and DE Quentin Groves with their first and second round picks. I also can't see OAK taking the fourth best OT with the 7th overall pick. The picks for PHI don't make much sense when their biggest concerns are addressing the TE position and adding some depth at OT after the bust that Winston Justice has been. Decent draft.
Look for the patriots to draft a TE in this spot Bill B loves his tight ends..
As much as it pains me to say, the Chiefs would probably take Matt Stafford. I think a new GM will want "his guy." I would like to see them upgrade their OL or DE or LB.
you think robinson falls all the way to 32?? hey works for me lord knows pitt NEEDS him
Hey I have taken all comments into consideration and have changed the mock draft as a result of it. Keep the comments coming!
Good draft but the Eagles are definately taking an offensive lineman with either of their 1st round picks. Depending what they get with their 1st pick will be the determination who they select or if they trade away their pick.
I AGREE WITH gowman....THE LIONS OFFENSE IS
SERVICABLE....WE ARE VERY WEAK UP THE MIDDLE.
NEEDED---TWO DEFENSIVE TACKLES, MIDDLE LINE BACKER AND A GOOD FAST HARD HITTING SAFTY,
No way 49ers take Stafford or any QB at 10 give us Everette Brown DE Florida St or Taylor Mays S USC we need to upgrade our Defense.
NICE MOCK DRAFT IT WOULD BE INTERESTING TO KNOW WHY U CHOOSED THE PLAYERS FOR EACH TEAM AND IF U COULD AND MORE ROUNDS THANKS.
Wow....... you get a lot of anonymous comments?
Any team thinking of drafting a QB first round would be better off trading for Matt Cassel he is a proven QB from a good system and I am sure the pats are fielding a bunch of phone calls for his services..Don't forget he is already in the pros and is a good QB not a bust like most #1 draft picks at the qb possition..
now that Sanchez is coming out he might be a late first rounder or second rounder. The lions can draft an offensive lineman first overall like smith and then go after a DE with the 20th pick and hopefully sanchez will be around for the first pick in the second round!
It looks as though this has been updated recently...but you still have Taylor Mays in it. He has declared that he is going back to school.
thanks anonymous I didnt catch that one about taylor Mays. Draft is adjusted accordingly.
Why is NYG picking at # 31? It can only be ARI, BAL, PIT or PHI at this point. Your draft order needs to be corrected.
the draft order will be changed following the conference championships
The Niners have a QB for next season...Shaun Hill. He's not considered a "franchise" QB, so it's quite possible Singletary will draft one...however, don't be surprised if he wait's 'til the 3rd or 4th round to do it. I really like Stafford, but Singletary's offensive priorities are to upgrade RT, add a power RB, and a QB. Very possible he takes the best OT on the board w/#10 pick and QB later on.
with all the recent changes going on in tampa, the sanchez pick seems to fit. i like it...
First thing I would do if I was Martin Mayhew in Motown - is pump out a bunch of false info - leaking that they are leaning towards a qb- get someone to buy that they are - drop down no more then the 10 spot, pick up another #1 next year, and an extra 2 this year, w/ may be a late 6th. At the 1st pic take the best OL/Dl available/ at the 15th get the best LB/DL/OL, 2nd rd take CB/G, 2nd second rd pic again DL, on the 2 3rds take the WR out of BYU and a CB return man. Trade your 4th round pick to Clevland for Derrick Anderson. You just solidified both interior lines, and got better in the LB/CB and you have someone to be "Stokely" to Calvin
Wouldn't be opposed to the Seahawks trading down, giving Lions 4th pick for their 20th, 33rd and 65th, take Moreno, or Heyward-Bey in the 1ST round, and Chung and O/L in 2ND round
I really like this mock. I don't see Duke Robinson falling this far, but I hope so. Mack or Unger if not. I don't know much about Detroit aside from there record and Calvin Johnson, but I love teams with 3 picks in the top 33. Smith( or Oher ), Robinson, and Unger ( picked for versatility ) with my first 3. Lock up your O-line for the next 5-10 years. I could play QB behind that. Love me or hate me. GO STEELERS!!!!!!!!!!!!
Bey isn't a 1st rounder... 2nd round no doubt but wow looking at this list of available players this is one of the weakest classes in years...
bey fits in with baltimore very well and I dont think they will wait to see if he is available in the second round.
smith is a fat ass just like the guy the lions drafted from wisconsin a few years back stafford is the way to go
Tyson jackson DE LSU is not a first rounder especial his performance and stats this year he is a mid 2nd rounder but he has 1st round potential
PATRIOTS NEED A SHUTDOWN CB. REMEMBER CB FAILED IN THE SB42. LB/DT WOULD BE SECOND OPTION. OL NEEDS A LITTLE REBUILDING TOO. RB IS ANOTHER WEAKNESS. PATRIOTS NEED A FULLTIME STARTER.
GIants dont need an OT why would they draft him , they have many other needs

Thank you,
Bill Austin
I don't see any way Stafford's still on the board that long...it's possible, I suppose, but very unlikely. Even if he is, Niner GM McCloughan plans to bring Alex Smith back to compete with Shaun Hill. They'll likely take a QB this draft, but it'll be mid-rounds, most likely. Higher priorities for Singletary and McCloughan are a stud pass rusher (such as Everette Brown), top OT (if Oher was still on the board (highly doubtful) they'd take him in a heartbeat, or a top DT/NT like B.J. Raji, whose stock is soaring due to his dominant Senior Bowl practices.
Lions fan here -- Andre the Giant and Jerry? Me likey.
"The 49ers dont have a QB for next year. If they
reach for someone in free agency then they might
not pick stafford here."
Do you follow the NFL at all? The Niners have QB who started only 8 games, but threw 13 TD's (Redskins' Campbell started 16 games and had as many TD's)
Shaun Hill is a 7-3 in career starts and had in 2008 a better QB rating than McNabb, E.Manning, Cutler, Favre and Roethlisberger. And you guys say that Niners don't have QB next year. You guys don't have ANY credibilty as mock drafters. You're a joke.
Dear mr anon...
shaun hill was ok at best. He started 8 games last year and threw 8 interceptions. Not to mention the 8 fumbles he committed. Thats fine with me if your happy with the guy, cause I am a hawks fan and I enjoy watching the seahawks beat up on the niners every year. They will reach out in free agency or in the draft! haha us mock drafters have no credibility. You should man up and realize that until the niners get a "franchise" QB they will be an average team. All great teams have great QB's! keep that in mind.
oh yes if you cant add that means Your boy shaun hill committed on average two turnovers a start. haha shaun hill. oh man dont get me started.
if the seahawks were smart they would trade there whole team and all draft picks and draft jessica alba for there cheerleading squad!!! hands down best move ever by any gm
Any team that selects Matthew Stafford high in the first round is fooling themselves. The boy cannot hit a bull in the butt with a bass fiddle. The reason Ga. disappointed this season was Stafford missed guys often. The Bengals will not take a RB with the 6th pick. They need linemen, tackles and a center. There will be plenty of "decent" running backs later in the draft. James Johnson of Oregon for one.
Your right about the bengals. I think they will answer their oline need in free agency though or they will trade down out of this spot.
The Lions need to consider themselves rebuilding, and will find themselves surprised at the win percentage if they do so. They need to draft (if possible with a trade to #7 but no lower) a LT, be it Michael Oher or Eugene Monroe, both solid (but unspectacular picks) then go defense (anywhere will do) with the next pick. I would love Laurinitias (SP?) at the 1-20 pick, but Peria Jerry (DT), Maybin (DE) or Vontae Davis (CB) would be alright. I would then take, in order of probable availability, Robinson (OG), Mack(C)/Unger (C),or Sen'Derrick Marks (WTHP - Whatever the hell he plays) with the second round pick...We need help everywhere so the best player available philosophy works just fine here. A word to the QB takers...No QB can function without a proper O-Line, please see Detroit for the last 8 years. We need a team, then a team leader. A QB will do us no good and will ruin another young player's career, please believe in the rebuild and not in the glamour game!
Damit News flash...Detroit Matt Millen is returning as a consultant to help Lions new sceme of drafting..Draft unknowns in early rounds so when they flop no one will complain..This team should be dismanttled its is a discrase to pro sports..No matter who is drafted #1 they will not repeat will not pan out for the lions a perennial jinxed team with asshole owner..
That Bears pick is aweful. They will be going defense with their 1st round pick unless Maclin falls to them. Kenny Britt is a mid 2nd round pick.
Tyson Jackson really doesn't fit Indy's scheme all that well. He is more of a 3-4 end, and while he could probably play tackle I wouldn't consider him a first round prospect there. If Knowshon Moreno is still on the board there, the Colts can't pass him up after the awful showing from their run game this past season.
I like Andre Smith OT Alabama for the 49ers. He has weight issues but mike singletary will get the best out of him he can be a Prowl bowl type of player but also a bust. Also i wouldn't mind Michael Oher OT Mississipi good mock.
